Election Night - Part V

By Michael Smith, on Nov 22, 2011

Well, my friends, it appears to finally be over. After all the ballots have been counted--including absentee, paper and from all remaining machines--we have won by a 129 vote margin. See my attached press release below for more details.

I thank all of you for your time, help and dedication throughout this entire process. Without you, this victory could not have been possible. I am looking forward to serving our community together and representing the citizens of this great district.

So again, thank you and have a great Thanksgiving.

Election Night - Part IV

Here are the numbers: I am up 181 votes over my opponent with approximately 320 absentee ballots to be counted. It appears that he would need to win approximately 80% of the absentee vote to over take my lead.

Looking back at the campaign, I feel good that I surrounded myself with people of integrity, I listened to the honest taxpayers who wanted their values represented at the BOL and I told the truth.

Election Night - Part II

By Michael Smith, on Nov 10, 2011

As of Thursday morning, the Board of Elections has me with a lead of 123 votes out of over 10,000 votes cast. Although a number of media outlets have reported me as the winner, my understanding is that paper ballots will be counted next Thursday so we still wait.

I like where we are at in the process, but we still have some time to wait.
Once again I am so thankful to all of you for your efforts to make Westchester livable for everyone.

Counting is done for the night and it is this close. Feeling real good about the districts that are yet to be counted.

Look for this one to be decided on a narrow margin, but in the end I'm planning on breaking the Supermajority.

PCTV Candidates Forum

By Michael Smith, on Nov 4, 2011

November 3, 2011- Last night, Michael Smith and two-term incumbent Democrat John Nonna discussed issues facing District 3 at the PCTV Candidates Forum. Smith, who is running to lower the high taxes and control the radical spending by the Board of Legislators, presented his plan for District 3: Lower taxes through a pro-business growth agenda, fight the overreaching by the federal government in the 2009 Andy Spano-John Nonna affordable/integration housing settlement, and manage the County's out-of-control debt problem. As a certified public accountant, chief financial officer for a local business and a chartered financial analyst, Smith believes his financial experience can best serve the Board during these trying financial times. Read his full 6-point plan under the "Issues" tab.
