He Doth Protest Too Much Me Thinks

By Michael Smith, on Jul 20, 2011

My opponent’s e-mail of July 20th to his constituency spends six paragraphs explaining his multiple varying votes on changing Playland fees. His hope was that County Executive Astorino would compromise but “was regrettably unwilling to do so.”

Rob Astorino perhaps may have been too busy calling for the action to solve the almost inevitable consequences of not replacing the Tappan Zee Bridge. The current legislators seem to be more interested in managing an amusement park. We deserve better from our legislators.

Things Are NOT Going "Relatively Smoothly"

By Michael Smith, on Jul 17, 2011

My opponent was quoted in the Journal News on Saturday saying that the Affordable Housing Settlement is going relatively smoothly.

On Friday, Rob Astorino announced that because the Federal Government is changing the parameters of the original agreement approved by John Nonna & Andy Spano, the cost of the implementing the settlement has now risen from $52 million to $95 million. The costs will be borne by us, the Westchester taxpayers. Exactly how much higher will the tax burden from the agreement need to rise before it is considered an unmitigated disaster?

Let’s Put Westchester County Back on the Right Track

By Michael Smith, on Jul 15, 2011

My name is Michael Smith and I am running to represent you on the Westchester County Board of Legislators- District 3. I am running because I believe Mount Pleasant, North Castle and Greenburgh deserve a representative whose first allegiance is to our communities and neighborhoods and who will work tirelessly to protect them and make better.

We are at a crossroads in Westchester. We can continue to let John Nonna represent the district as a captive of Board Chairman Ken Jenkins of Yonkers, or we can set a new course. I think we need a new course of action.
